The Roundup
It was big news when Frank Buffa announced that his 12-decade-old Italian restaurant, Ferdinando’s Foccaceria, would close. Just weeks later, he surprised everyone by naming Sal Lamboglia – the chef and owner of Cafe Spaghetti, Swoony’s and Sal Tang’s – as his successor. Andrea Strong got the scoop, and GrubStreet published a candid Q&A with Lamboglia about his plans for the next chapter of the restaurant:
“Frank already said we can make a couple of dishes together whenever I want. So I’m hoping to get that on the books in the next couple of weeks, where we can make a couple of things that he treasured, which of course is like so cool, right?”
Shout out not having to pay a broker fee!
Brooklyn Farmacy took home the top prize in a seltzer competition for National Egg Cream weekend, which I had no idea is a thing. It’s niche, it’s successful and honestly, I’m all about it.
The neighborhood is getting another Pilates studio: Jetset Pilates, which has locations in SoHo and Gramercy, signed a lease on Atlantic Avenue and will open this spring. Bravo to this headline.
Latin American restaurant Leyenda is selling commemorative T-shirts as it winds down operations. I… kinda want one of these? Nothing says "I miss this place" like a shirt that will make people ask, "What’s Leyenda?" at every brunch!
